In Birdmoss, Dogs are invited indoors for the winter. They warm themselves by the fire,
then warm the beds of their hosts.
This soapstone was hand-mined and then carved by a fair-trade association of artisans in the rural village of Tabaka, Kenya. After carving the stone, craftspeople smooth it with sandpaper dipped in water, paint it in brilliant colors, and etch it with beautiful motifs. The SMOLArt organization contributes to projects that improve living conditions, education, and health of their members and the village at large.
You will receive a single randomly selected figure; colors and patterns vary. Each figure is approximately 2 inches tall.
The Winter Companion was featured in Twelve Nights in Birdmoss (2024 advent calendar).
