You receive a packet of sourdough starter which has been quickened with wild yeast. Use it to inaugurate a batch of bread starter which may feed your descendants for generations. Begin it on the day of Eclipse, upon any New Moon, or on a day which is significant for you. Then tell and re-tell the story of your heirloom starter every year.

You'll receive 10 grams of dehydrated sourdough starter, enough for two lively batches.  It's accompanied by a card with thorough instructions and a simple bread recipe.  In addition to your starter, you'll need unbleached flour, water, and salt to begin your baking journey.

Ingredients:  wheat flour, live active cultures

Wild Ferment was featured in the Eclipse Box (March 2024).

Magic!

I was so excited to receive this in my box last month as I'd been meaning to get started with sourdough for a while. This made it so much easier, thank you!

Easier to use than you think!

Stir up a starter and let it rise. Mix up a loaf and let it rest several times followed by folding the dough a few times with wet hands. Let it rise the final time in a parchment paper lined bowl. When risen, lift the dough by the paper “sling.” Bake in a hot oven. So good! I have already made three loaves!
