In the Castle, you shuffle through a side table. It's filled with all kinds of mundane items: throat lozenges, reading glasses, scraps of paper, pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. You find a book which may help you untangle the mystery which is playing out around you: The Language and Sentiment of Flowers. You can use its code to communicate in your world, as well.
The Language and Sentiment of Flowers is an illustrated reproduction of a Victorian flower dictionary originally published in 1890. Communicating with flowers became such a refined art in the nineteenth century that reference books such as this were necessary. Using this source, one could send a message of reproach, passion, friendship, quarrel or a myriad of other sentiments singly and combined via a simple bouquet without ever penning a single word. 96 pages.
The Language and Sentiment of Flowers was featured in the Strange Child Box (January 2022).
