Passing through the garden’s gates, you are almost overwhelmed by a riot of flowers and leaves. Tables and chairs have been assembled amid the foliage. At each place setting is a party favor: a small wooden flower press. Use it to collect memories of this day. The flowers you preserve will remain forever pretty, if brittle.
Your flower press is about 4" long and 2.75" wide. It will come with about 10 sheets of cardboard inside.
How to Use Your Flower Press
- Open the flower press by unscrewing the wing nuts. Remove the washers, top wood plate, and cardboard leaving only the bottom wood plate and screws.
- Place fresh flower(s) between two sheets of cardboard. Repeat this process as many times as you like, layering cardboard and flowers. Avoid pressing flowers while they're wet.
- Put the cardboard "sandwich" on the bottom plate, and place the top plate on top of the cardboard. Make sure the cardboard sheets don't block the screws.
- Screw the top on tightly and leave in a cool, dry place. Check the flowers occasionally for drying progress. If cardboard becomes damp, discard and replace it.
- In 1-2 weeks, you will have beautifully preserved flowers that are ready to put in a scrapbook or locket.
