The Strange Dancers take you by the hand and spin you through a ballroom. Waiters bear small boxes on silver trays. Your partner opens one to show you bright yellow blossoms within. The rarest flowers in Birdmoss, they are valued by the Foxes because of their enlightening properties. You chew a pinch of their petals, then gasp at tastes and sensations you’ve never experienced before. Then you realize: you tasted their food.
You receive a box containing three dried paracress flowers, or buzz buttons. These flowers are used as garnishes in haute cuisine and elaborate cocktails. Chewing their petals heightens the taste and texture of food and drink, but it is a sensory experience which goes far beyond flavor, creating a buzzing, effervescent, cooling sensation. Start with a pinch of petals (no more than a quarter or even an eighth of a flower) and then add a little more if you want a more intense experience.
