This decorative thimble depicts a frog on a lily pad wearing a crown. She is the Frog Princess, a character found in many different retellings of the same fairy tale.
In one version of the Frog Princess, three brothers are told by their father, the king, to shoot an arrow and their future wife will be found where the arrow lands. The arrow of the youngest prince lands near a frog. He is ashamed of his new bride, but she proves herself to be far more skilled and intelligent than either of the other brothers' wives. Despite her talents, the prince remains embarrassed of her until she is magically transformed into a human.
Your Frog Princess Thimble is hand-turned and hand-painted, with delicate gold foil detailing. Measuring about 1 inch tall, each one is unique. Made in Russia (and imported before the war), they possess an Old-World charm.
