The Firetender beckons you over, and you watch her at work. After she completes an herbal bundle, she rummages through her supplies to present you with a quickening tool: a ferrocerium rod and a multipurpose steel striker that can create a shower of sparks. She’s marked its handle with a glyph meaning "quicken." Use it with care, because even a small spark can be dangerous.

Scrape the steel striker firmly across the ferro rod, almost like striking a match, to create a beautiful shower of sparks. Use with care because the sparks are hot and can, indeed, start a fire.

An easy way to stay warm.

This small and compact ferro rod and steel striker are perfect for a back pack or a car, giving you the ability to start a fire if you need one. When used properly, it will produce a good spark for starting tinder.
