The Swamp is a safe harbor for creeping creatures like insects and spiders. Sometimes Stormswift lies on the ground to watch their movements. Their lives are short. She finds them beautiful, even in death, and preserves their forms for closer study. She offers you an orb for your own curiosity cabinet.
You will receive one marble containing an insect or spider, displayed in a black frame. The orb can be removed from the frame for closer examination. These fascinating bugs were raised in an arthropod farm for their short lives, and then selected for preservation after their natural deaths. The orbs measure about one inch in diameter and the frames are about 2.75 inches across. Each specimen is natural and unique; colors and types vary.
The Arthropod Sphere was featured in the Swamp Box (May 2025).

This clever display lets me see the intense iridescent greens and oranges of this arthropod's wings and study the legs and other elements of its naturally deceased body. I love the way that Shannon offers ethically sourced examples of nature's wonders that we can marvel at again and again.
