Ancient Protections - Metal Embossing Kit

In Birdmoss, imagery of a coiled Serpent is evoked to confuse negative energy. Labyrinthine designs draw in troubled vibrations, funneling them through confusing paths until they reach a pinprick in the center and drain away. The walls of most homes are hung with ornaments or garlands of medallions embossed with spirals, snakes, and flowers. They are made using traditional techniques of repoussé (pressing a design into the back side of the material) and chasing (commensurate detail-work on the front side). Sometimes the medallions are worn as a kind of ceremonial armor.

Your kit includes 5 heavy-duty metal foil sheets, 3 templates, a length of ribbon, a stylus, glue dots, and instructions.

You'll need scissors and a dish towel or hand towel. Optional: other tools like a ballpoint pen or a pushpin; and/or permanent markers, nail polish, or paint to add color to your creation.

Instructions:

1. Place a foil sheet on top of a folded towel.
2. Draw your choice of design upon the foil using the provided stylus or another tool like a ballpoint pen. You can use one of the provided templates - just place the paper template on top of the foil and then trace it firmly with the stylus - or create your own design.
3. If you'd like, you can add texture by making dots or crosshatches. A pushpin or needle can create pinhole details. Or, add pops of color with permanent markers.
4. Cut out your medallions and use the provided glue dots to attach them to the provided ribbon. Your garland can hang horizontally or vertically. Alternatively, you can punch holes in your medallions and hang them as ornaments.
