New acorns are only now beginning to collect that the foot of the Sacred Oak. The Chipmunks, Squirrels, and other small creatures will soon begin collecting their winter stockpiles. Many acorns will be stored whole. Some will be gathered, dried, cracked, peeled, ground, soaked, rinsed, dried, and ground again – all in the interest of creating a versatile flour. Warm, nourishing brownies will be such a treat as the evenings grow shorter and cooler.
You'll receive about a cup of acorn flour brownie mix, enough to make four mug cakes. This makes a tasty, chocolatey treat with a little bit of nuttiness similar to hazelnuts.
Make your cake even more delicious with optional mix-ins or toppings such as:
- A few chocolate chips or chopped nuts
- A few drops of vanilla extract
- A sprinkle of flaky salt
- A drizzle of caramel
- Ice cream or whipped cream
The Ritual: In a microwave-safe mug or ramekin, stir ¼ cup of mix with one tablespoon each of water and neutral oil. Microwave for about 25-40 seconds or until the center looks slightly dry and set; it will continue to cook while resting. Cook less for a
fudgier texture and longer for a firmer texture.
Ingredients: Wheat flour, sugar, cocoa, acorn flour, dry milk, baking powder, salt.
Contains gluten and milk.
