Collection: July 2026: The Ladybugs
In July 2026, subscribers encountered the Ladybugs.
In Birdmoss, Ladybugs are known by several other names: the Hungry Ladies; the Sorrow-Eaters; the Little Midwives. With their lacquer-bright wings, they look like berries or jewels or candy. Their winsome appearance may distract from their voracious ways. Despite their tiny size (each is but the size of a dewdrop) they possess extraordinary capacity, each eating thousands of aphids over a lifetime.
The old stories say that, just as they can remove pestilence from crops, they can carry away other damaging things: pains and sorrows and the persistent, dragging shadows of mistakes. During the summer, they accompany the Midwife upon her rounds, buzzing along behind her or riding upon her shoulder. During the colder months, when the Winter Pause overtakes them, a few choose to sleep in matchboxes in her bag; ready to be warmed and woken for more difficult cases.
The Ladybugs Box includes an abundance of beautiful objects; hints and additions to expand the story; a mysterious document; and a lore card.
